1867-S $5 XF40 PCGS CAC

1867-S $5 has an estimated 75 known in all grades for this important San Francisco Half Eagle. With no sale for almost a decade, the only comp is a XF45 PCGS CAC for $5,160 11/22 ST. With increased demand for S-Mint Half Eagles more so for rare dates, prices have been increasing many folds. For this issue, finding an example much less a PCGS CAC example finer than the offered will cost at least 5 figures. As an XF40, this coin is indeed very crusty looking. No hits or dings are noted and the coin has an attractive orange-fiery patina.
