1867-S $10 VF35 PCGS CAC

An incredibly rare Liberty Eagle gold issue, one of just 9,000 examples struck. The 1867-S was first identified as a "grossly underrated" issue by David Akers, only in the past few years has this issue become understandably rare. With just 50 examples known in all grades this example is certified as 1867-S $10 VF35 PCGS CAC and is exceptional rare and tough to find in any grade. This Choice VF example features attractive mark-free surface and for the grade features intensely attractive eye appeal. One of just 12 CAC examples approved in all grades. 1867-S is one of several dates in the Liberty Head eagle series that is unknown in Mint State. An AU58 PCGS CAC sold 04/22 ST for $75,000, whilst a more appropriate comp but two grades lower PCGS VF25 CAC sold for $9,060 11/21 HA. The current example features attractive orange and red-gold color and would serve perfectly in an advanced Liberty Head Eagle set.
