1865-S 50C MS64+ PCGS

Incredibly Rare San Francisco 1865 Liberty Half Dollar, 1865-S 50C is highly sought after finer than AU. In Mint State this date becomes a conditional rarity in MS63 and finer. This near-GEM example shows incredibly lustrous and brilliant surface over mottled rose-russet while the reverse an even sandy-gold. This near-gem example is superseded only by 2 examples, a single MS65 and a MS65+. Both sides are sharply struck with full, smooth, satin to softly frosted luster. With a PCGS Price Guide of $15,000 and no comp except NON-CAC NGC MS65 which sold for $14,400 01/19 HA and $15,275 04/17 HA, we see this attractive example is worthy of a top collection and in our opinion more attractive than the above mentioned MS65 NGC examples.
