1863-S $2.5 VF25 PCGS CAC

Rare Civil War era Quarter Liberty Eagle gold piece struck from the San Francisco mint. From an initial mintage of 10,800 pieces only approximately 60 have survived today in all grades having circulated thoroughly at the frontier. Thus, a low survival rate rarity was created which is still fully undervalued in today's market. An interesting fact is that the Reverse still retains the Old Reverse type for Liberty Quarter Eagles from 1840-1858. Incredibly rare in CAC, we see 1 1863-S $2.5 VF25 NGC CAC comp for $3,120 02/2022 HA, the most relevant comp and apr but slightly muted with no PCGS sale noted.
