The 1863 Liberty Seated Quarter is a remarkable piece from the Civil War era, boasting a mintage of only 460 coins with an estimated survival of just 400 pieces. Truly unknown except to specialist, this low mintage proof issue represents tremendous value. This CAC-certified Gem is one of only seven at this grade level, with nine finer in CAC populations, making it an elite example of its kind. The coin features a Cameo obverse with vibrant natural toning displaying a stunning spectrum of cobalt blue, violet, orange, magenta, and golden-yellow hues radiating from the center. Whilst the reverse - deep orange and magenta tones that transitions to some electric blue and violet along the edges. The luster remains dynamic and the coin’s well-preserved surfaces indicate long-term natural storage. No CAC PR64 has sold in the better part of a decade; however, a lower graded PR63 PCGS CAC sold most recently for $1,920 08/24 ST which showed no toning or color for the lower grade piece. With this unparalleled beauty, rarity, and Civil War provenance, this quarter is a standout piece destined for an advanced collection and if we dare so is tremendously undervalued.
