Near finest example from a mintage of just 460! This copper nickel superb gem has a pop of 9 with only 1 finer. Sharply struck with deep mirrors almost worthy of cameo designation, 1863 1c proof has the second lowest mintage of any Indian Copper Nickel cent, yet it as priced as the common 1860 and 1861 proof issue with double the mintage. This pr66 pcgs graded example is a condition census example and very few have traded. The only pr66 pcgs example to have sold at auction within the past 14 years was a HA sale in 01/15 for $4,465. With a PCGS Price Guide now at $5,500 and another on the market for $5,500 one can expect great from this issue.
