1863 1C MS66 PCGS CAC

Copper Nickel Indian Head Penny, 1863 1C a favorite among collectors. Finer than MS64+ this coin becomes incredibly tough and rare. At MS66 PCGS CAC, the last 3 PCGS CAC sale was for $4,080 01/23 HA, $4,230 12/22 HA and $4,080 06/21 HA. The obverse is void of marks, hits or flyspecks commonly seen on copper nickel planchets, whilst the reverse is very clearly one of the only proof-like examples we have seen. Perhaps struck from left over proof dies, the reverse shows deep cameo fields with reflectivity still readily apparent. A very rare pairing for a great type coin.
