1862-S $2.5 VF35 PCGS CAC

A superb Civil War San Francisco Quarter Eagle. Mintage 8,000 of which only 80 are estimated known today in all grades. 1862-S $2.5 is highly sought after, as very few auction records have taken place. Nearly no CAC examples are known. In fact likely no more than a dozen CAC examples have been certified in all grades - A testament to how difficult finding choice examples are. The present example has soft honey tan gold patina over evenly worn surface. No VF35 CAC has sold, though 4 grades lower two CAC F15 sold for $2,400 02/22 and $2,506 07/21.
