A oddity within Numismatics, with a mintage of just 96,000, 1861-S 25C is an important Civil War date within the series. Only about 60 examples in all grades are estimated to exist, baffling many researchers and Numismatists as to why it has a survival rate of just 0.0625%. With some theories suggesting that the distance between delivery was too far or perhaps something happened while in route, whatever the reason, this Liberty Seated San Francisco quarter is an undervalued date within the series. With uniform beige hue over russet accents and problem-free surface, this coin has wonderful circ Cameo eye appeal. A stunning S mintmark highlights the Civil War rarity, as no Mint State examples exists. At VF20 no CAC example has ever sold.
