Uber popular key date Civil War Charlotte Half Eagle. Nearly no other Half Eagle has more multiple level of interest than this issue. From a tiny mintage of just 6,879 struck, only 300 are believed to exist today which were halted by Confederate soldiers, forcing mint workers to pledge their loyalty or lose their job. From the 6,879, 887 pieces were struck under the Confederacy, which exact 887 experts still debate; however, a common belief are ones with a die crack going through America are the ones. Fortunately this example not only has this die crack, even more intriguing it also lacks severe abrasion as commonly seen on the issue.

Whether or not this is one of the 887, which we believe we do with no proof, the coin is newly graded, is CAC approved and has tremendous eye appeal. An exotic aura of deep orange surrounds the devices seen both on the obverse and reverse. At the current grade only 2 are CAC approved from a combined 40 graded examples at both pcgs and ngc. In fact in all grades, CAC examples are extremely sought after. There has never been a PCGS CAC sale, and a PCGS non-cac sold 06/2021 HA for $15,000. Do not miss this opportunity to add such a coin to your collection.
