1860-S $5 XF45 PCGS CAC

One of our favorite dates in the entire series. A pre-civil war issue from San Francisco - 1860-S $5 in all grades and all conditions only 50 are known today. In fact in all grades, there has only been 1 CAC coin available for sale which was a VF20 that sold in 2017, since then or before that no other CAC example has been offered or sold at auction. Overshadowed by the Civil War dates, this date and rarity is known to specialist. Finer than XF45, no AU50,53,55 has sold in the past 2 decade. Beyond the rarity of this date, the eye appeal, surface, color and strike is superb and superior to all other examples we have seen through the auction records. Flawless surface, well struck and not a single blemish worth mentioning. A GEM XF and likely the only CAC example one will be able to acquire for this 50 known survivor issue.
