Dominant charcoal-russet and pinkish-gray patina is backlit by vivid blue, pink and apricot iridescence. The reverse is the lighter of the two sides with more pink than blue, but both are equally well preserved with full vibrancy to the finish. This pre-Civil War date was struck in limited numbers in Proof as a mere 1,000 are noted for the year. This is one of the finer examples today and offers both quality and eye appeal for the date or type numismatist.

The coin is simply outstanding and eye appeal is beyond any thus seen for the date. A lower graded pcgs pr63+ pcgs cac example sold for $2,850 10/20 more recently as a comp, whilst this a grade higher has superior eye appeal. In todays market that values eye appeal, CAC and toning this coin should undoubtedly perform very well.
