Absolutely gorgeous 1859 3CS MS66 PCGS Secure. ex HA $2,820 06/17 - Offered is a mark free lustrously toned 3CS with double sided hues seen typically on proof issues. A check on all comps for this first year issue will show none with the level of eye appealing seen, hence a strong auction record recently. When the Mint tweaked the appearance of the Tree-Cent Silver by removing one of the outlines surrounding the star, changing the shape of the lettering, and reducing the size of the digits in the date, the mintage in 1859 dropped significantly to less than a fourth of the previous year. Almost all 1859 are also seen with heavy clash-mark and this has none, likely one of the first struck.
