Out of a mintage of 16,013, it is estimated that only 142 examples of the 1859 Liberty Head Eagle gold coin remains. This coin is exceedingly rare in all grades, comparable to the 1857 issue in rarity. The current example is a choice Almost Uncirculated representation of the date, boasting superior eye appeal. Mint state examples are exceptionally rare and rarely offered for sale, further underscoring the importance of this offering. With only a handful of Mint State survivors, this premium choice Almost Uncirculated specimen is not too far off from Condition Census status for the issue. This No Motto Eagle is original and well-preserved, showcasing a deep honey gold coloration with softly frosted surfaces. The details are sharp, with all design elements well-defined. This is a less frequently encountered Eagle and always in demand. An NGC example last sold two years ago for $2,280 in August 2022.
