Standing Liberty Quarter
One of the most undervalued coins we have offered. From an official mintage of just 40! This 1857 Liberty Seated Quarter, is a visually arresting survivor from one of the earliest and rarest proof issues in the Seated quarter series. Struck the year before the Mint formalized proof coinage for commercial sale. With only 2 CAC approved at this level and 10 finer — confirming the issue's true scarcity in certified, premium-quality form. This particular piece exhibits deeply original, album-toned coloration with concentric rings of cobalt-blue, rose-lilac, and golden-apricot on the obverse, contrasted by powder-blue and russet-violet halos on the reverse. Liberty’s figure is rendered in warm bronze with frosted highlights, while the reverse eagle rises from a satiny golden-champagne core into lavender and lemon-peach peripheral toning. The fields retain subtle semi-prooflike reflectivity beneath the color, and the sharp strike leaves no detail wanting. With a PCGS Price Guide of $4,000 and no CAC sale in over 7 years which was no where as attractive as this nor any NON-CAC sale as well, this specimen offers both strong market value and undeniable eye appeal. A scarce and beautifully toned early proof quarter ideal for the advanced collector of pre-Civil War United States coinage.
