Liberty Head Eagle
Pop 1, Price Guide $60,000. Originating from a mintage of only 16,606 pieces, the 1857 Liberty Head Eagle is a significantly rare and underrated date. With only 142 estimated survivors remaining, examples are hardly found in the market and quickly disappear when emerged. They are often found in VF or XF grades with only a few number of AU pieces known, while they become very scarce in Mint State. The date is similar in terms of rarity to the 1851-S and 1854-S, but becomes much more rare in high grades with an estimated 4 in UNC! This magnificent example is one of our highlights and we are more than delighted to offer this phenomenal piece. The specimen has an incredible appearance showcasing uber frosty surfaces that is fully original in preservation. Both sides of the coin boast honey gold colors with endless cartwheel luster on the surfaces. The surfaces are remarkably smooth and the details of the strike is very sharp. The eye appeal for this stellar piece is just substantial and only a single hit on Liberty's nose holds this back. This Pop 1 has no auction record except for a MS62 CAC which sold for $78,000 04/22 ST now with a Price Guide of $95,000. Once obtained this will be locked away.
