1856 $10 AU50 PCGS
1856 $10 AU50 PCGS
Liberty Head Eagle
Only a handful of AU examples are known to the 1856 $10 specimens with most of them graded in only VF or EF. This piece is an AU which just makes this coin entirely another matter, for it is scarce and seldom encountered in today’s market. The 1856 date is rarer than many dates, such as 1847, 1849, 1850, 1853 and 1855. Collectors should not hesitate to obtain this coin for it only has a survival percentage of 0.325% out of 60,490 mintage, an incredibly low number for a Gold $10 coin that isnt 5 figures. Exhibiting a honey-gold color, the specimen boasts some lusters that can be seen through the surfaces. The detail of the strike through the center is unblunted. There has been no sale of this coin since 2013 whereas an NGC AU55 last sold for $1,560 08/23 HA, before gold prices ran up.
