With a survival estimate of just 150 pieces across all grades, the 1855-O Arrows Liberty Seated Quarter is one of the more challenging New Orleans issues to locate in high-end Mint State condition. No public PCGS auction records exist for this date in MS63, and there are no known CAC-approved examples sold in any grade above. This CACG-certified MS63 is among the finest certified representatives currently known and reflects a high standard of originality and preservation. In fact, this example was previously MS64 PCGS and was downgraded to a MS63 CACG. Previously cert#25628573 where it sold as a MS64 PCGS for $21,150 01/2017 HA. Struck during the brief “Arrows at Date” subtype of 1854–1855—marking a reduction in silver weight mandated by Congress—this coin exhibits fully original surfaces and bold detail. The obverse glows with a refined palette of champagne-gold and antique bronze, accented by soft iridescent hues of rose, lilac, and icy blue in the recesses near the stars and denticles. Liberty’s figure is sharply defined, with full detail in the shield, facial features, and gown—an impressive level of execution for a New Orleans strike. Satiny luster rotates evenly across the fields and is free of notable marks or distractions, confirming the coin's outstanding eye appeal and careful handling over time. The reverse is equally attractive, showing a blend of golden-bronze and pale copper tones enhanced by flashes of lavender, olive, and violet around the eagle and within the protected areas of the design. The strike is crisp throughout, with deeply impressed shield lines, sharp claws and feather detail, and immaculate fields. A subtle cartwheel effect remains visible, and the texture is smooth and satiny, with no evidence of cleaning or surface disturbance—traits seldom seen on Mint State examples from this issue. CACG certification affirms the coin’s strong technical quality and visual integrity. With its combination of well-preserved original surfaces, classic antique toning, and precision strike characteristics, this piece is a superb addition to any advanced Liberty Seated quarter set or high-end U.S. type collection. Coins of this caliber, especially with such refined coloration and untouched texture, are infrequently seen on the market and represent an excellent opportunity for the specialist. Only 1 finer at CAC which was a MS67 which is now a CACG, whilst PCGS notes two but one includes this example. So there are only 2 PCGS finer and only 1 CAC approved/graded example, which is locked in a top Set Registry.
