1854-S $20 VF25 PCGS

The 1854-S Liberty Head Double Eagle is one of the most popular dates thanks to all the demand and marketing by Shipwrecks. However, not only does its origination as one of the first coins minted by the San Francisco Mint add further its demand, but also it's scarcity of just 637 remaining pieces out of 141,468 mintages. Though higher grades are often found, low grade examples such as this current piece is seldom found in the market. This coin is also unique in that its details on the high points are strong, suggesting a higher grade nearly close to a VF35, but the fields are worn lower than a VF25 and are seen with some hairlines. Thus, the net grade of the VF25 received can be deemed as appropriate. The coin surprisingly has not marks or hits and has superb eye appeal. What's more is there are currently no records of sales to be found for the grade. A unique piece bearing all the marks of American history, which is never seen under 5 figures for this date.
