The 1852 Liberty Head Half Eagle represents a highly desirable example of early No Motto gold coinage, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Despite an output of over half a million, only an estimated 750 coins are believed to survive across all grades today. Certified PCGS MS63 and endorsed by CAC approval for quality within the grade, this coin showcases outstanding preservation, originality, and eye appeal. Radiant cartwheel luster flows effortlessly across both sides, enhancing the coin’s fully struck design elements. The surfaces glow with rich golden-yellow coloration. This is a choice Mint State survivor of a series where true Gems are seldom encountered. According to the PCGS Population Report, only 21 examples are graded MS63, with just 18 finer across all grades, which in our opinion includes clearly resubmissions. CAC approval further sets this piece apart, with a mere five coins certified at MS63 and only four finer. The PCGS Price Guide values MS63 specimens at $7,000, while CAC-approved examples command higher premiums, estimated at $7,500. Notably, a similar CAC-approved MS63 example realized $7,200 10/22 HA, 3 years ago which in our opinion this is more lustrous.
