1851-O 25C XF40 NGC

From a mintage of 88,000 only 500 are estimated today in all grades. Previously not thought of as rare, 1851 O-Mint Liberty Quarters have been undervalued for almost its entirety. Only until recently thanks to the advent of third party grading and pop reports are we able to appreciate this date. At XF40 only 13 examples are graded finer, but surprisingly the total number of certified pieces from both NGC and PCGS amount to approximately 100 in all grades without even counting cross overs or resubmissions. We still believe the coin is undervalued. Nonetheless, at XF40, the last PCGS sale was 11 years ago and NGC sale 16 years ago. Even in surrounding grades there are no sales. The present example is a slightly darker with a small rim ding at 6pm noted for accuracy purpose. The surface is original with remnants of dirt in between devices. All indicative of original honest circulated wear for this under-rated date. You will likely not find a similar example at such a price point.
