Unique 1851-O $20. Some type of thin wire rested on the reverse die when this coin was struck, leaving a long, narrow depression at the upper left. The fields are lightly scuffed and the devices are lightly worn, but considerable proof-like reflectivity remains in the protected areas. Both sides have a splendid green-gold color with hints of pale orange toning. Superbly original. According to the research study by coin error experts, this $20 is unique not only as a type one strike through error $20, but also as a key date New Orleans piece, and no doubt one of the first $20 mint errors in existence. In today’s market where unique gold error especially bigger denominations have climbed exponentially in value and are incredibly in demand this would be a prized centerpiece for all collectors. - $21,000
