1851 $10 MS61 PCGS CAC
1851 $10 MS61 PCGS CAC
Liberty Head Eagle
1851 Eagle are highly sought and rare in all grades, as only 225 are known in all grades. Extremely rare and one of the rarest Philly mint Eagle in Uncirculated grade. Whilst PCGS has certified 10 in MS61 with only 8 finer, CAC has only approved 3 with none finer. CAC 3/0. Looking at the auction records we see a number of pcgs and ngc examples that were sliders and should have been AU58 that were certified MS61. Regardless the only comp we would note is a NON-CAC choice NGC MS61 for $9,600 03/21 HA whilst PCGS notes a Price Guide of $8,000. The present example has attractive green-gold patina with a slight euro-gold look, we believe this may have come from Europe some decades ago. We can see this selling for more at a public auction like Heritage, but make no guarantees. No doubt one of the finest and certainly tied for the finest CAC example.
