1850-C $2.5 AU58 PCGS
1850-C $2.5 AU58 PCGS
Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Mintage 9,148 of which only 160 are known in all grades. These Charlotte Quarter Eagles are incredibly rare finer than AU50 and in UNC there are an estimated 4-6 unique examples known. The current specimen is a near slider with some rub on the fields as opposed to the high point, common characteristic of a soon to be a LOW UNC grade. As per PCGS Coin Facts, "The 1850-C quarter eagle is nearly impossible to locate without heavily abraded surfaces. Many have deep, detracting marks and these are often seen in the left obverse field." This example with attractive green-gold color lacks the typically seen marks. In fact very few hits or marks are noted. With a PCGS Price Guide of $7,500 and no AU58 PCGS sale for over 10 years! The last PCGS sold for $6,038 07/12 Scotsman and NGC AU58 and NGC AU58 are selling for $5,500+ 01/22 & 05/22 HA today, we believe this AU58 PCGS with its choice surface and color to have great ability to appreciate. A choice condition census Charlotte Quarter Eagle worthy of a collection.
