1847 $1 MS64 PCGS CAC
1847 $1 MS64 PCGS CAC
Liberty Seated Dollar
Superb Liberty Seated Dollar. No motto Seated $1 span from 1840 to 1865. Of the many dates, 1847 $1 is a popular date and is of equal rarity to some other semi-key dates where the typical 64 CAC sell for around $11,000-$13,000 and 64+ PCGS CAC for $20,000-$30,000. Unlike other dates, 1847 $1 is incredibly tough coin to find with problem-free and original surfaces. As such we see low CAC Pops surrounding all uncirculated grades. At MS64 and MS64+ this is a CAC Pop 2 with a 64+ PCGS CAC that just sold for $22,25 08/22 LE, a steel tan grey example that lacks any eye appeal or color in comparison to this example, the only other CAC with a Price Guide of $27,500. Even if we look at any other dated $1 CAC examples let alone an example from the 1840'S, we never see any examples as remotely eye appealing or toned as this. Next grade higher at MS65 this becomes a 6 figure coin today with an APR 8 years ago at $88,125. The present coin is a magnificent being of lustrous wondrous colors. With fields reminiscent of proof-like over pastel and bright clashes perfectly encapsulated in a coin likely from an envelope toning from when it was stored. With thick toning and color, we wonder if this would have graded higher were it not for it. Regardless a completely unique CAC Seated $1 with the most original and eye appealing character seen on a MS64.
