1846/'5'-O $10 AU55 PCGS
1846/'5'-O $10 AU55 PCGS
Liberty Head Eagle
Scarce New Orleans Eagle, 1846-O $10 is one of the most interesting dates not only because it is an extremely tough conditional rarity beyond XF but also because finding one with sufficient luster and mark-free surface is as tough as finding the coin. Two main variety exists 1846-O $10 and 1846/'5'-O $10. With a price guide of $11,500 no recent sale is noted except for a recent private sale for $12,000 by a major dealer. Next grade in AU58, a PCGS POP 1 sold at $36,000 03/18 ST. AU55 is clearly under-priced with tremendous potential as the price triples in AU58. In NGC AU58 an example sold most recently in 03/2011 HA for $16,100. The offered example has tremendous luster for an AU55, whilst the surface compared to other 46-O $10 is superior. The reverse looks like a MS61 and a condition census example! This purchase represents a great value.
