1845-O $2.5 VF35 PCGS GOLD CAC
1845-O $2.5 VF35 PCGS GOLD CAC
Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
The 1845-O is the single rarest quarter eagle from New Orleans. Only 70-80 exist from a mintage of 4,000 and this date is especially hard to locate in collector grades with solid eye appeal. Paradime Coins is pleased to have placed several important 1845-O $2.5, which is even rarer than most Charlotte and Dahlonega $2.5. No official mintage in the Mint Report exists for this 1845-O $2.5 with the date only known until an announcement in the December 1894 Numismatist. This example is slightly toned with the higher points displaying deep burned gold hue. The surfaces are smooth and nearly perfect and clearly this is an XF45 example which has a CAC Price Guide of $11,500. Incredibly rare to find. Beyond the rarity of this popular New Orleans Quarter Eagle, it is also a Gold CAC. As one would expect no Gold CAC comp exists, and the allure and demand of these make this incredibly desirable. Rest assured the combination of gold cac on such an important date make this worthy of inclusion.
