1843 $10 XF40 PCGS CAC

1843 Philly mint Eagles have a mintage of 75,462 pieces. Only 175 are estimated today in grades and as such are considered rare. High grade specimens are virtually nonexistent for this 1843 $10, as the majority are graded VF. AU level is incredibly scarce with only two uncirculated pieces known. Interestingly, it is still substantially less expensive than the 1842-O and 1843-O, despite higher number of survivors for the surrounding O-Mint Eagles. Of the 175 estimated 1843 $10 to exist today, only a few have earned CAC approval, with this XF40 proving to be an exception as it is free of cleaning and abrasion marks. Its surface is one of the nicest XF40 we have seen and the eye appeal is phenomenal. The only CAC comparable auction sale is a XF45 PCGS CAC from the Fairmont Sale that sold for $2,280 08/2023 SB. We still believe these are incredibly undervalued, but Fairmont has brought some positive light to this date which otherwise has been completely unknown for many years.
