The 1843 Seated Liberty dollar was struck during a period when silver dollars saw limited circulation. Both sides are anchored by a pale silver to soft frosted-gray foundation that carries a smooth, satiny glow as the light moves across the fields. According to current PCGS population figures, Mint State survivors remain limited, and high-end examples are scarce. The last auction record for a 1843 $1 MS64 PCGS CAC sold for $51,406 06/14 HA. Today, over a decade later, MS64 non-CAC the most relevant comp is 1844 $1 MS64 PCGS CAC being offered for approximately $60,000 and selling 2 years ago for approximately $45,000. 1843 $1 has seen no sale and no availability, even non-CAC 1843 $1 MS64 is being offered today for around $32,500.
