1842-C $2.5 VF35 PCGS CAC

One of rarest Charlotte Quarter Eagle, 1842-C $2.5 from a small mintage of 6,729 only 115 are estimated today. Of the 115 estimated, no more than a dozen retain natural surface. Finding examples with original surface and good eye appeal is very tough for a Southern Branch Mint date. True Quarter Eagle numismatists are aware of the rarity of this date. The coin, however, has serious claims to an XF40 despite its weak-strike. No CAC example in surrounding grade has sold for over a decade and only 12 in CAC are approved finer for this VF35 example.
