1842 50C SMALL DATE REV OF 1842 AU53 PCGS CAC

This 1842 Liberty Seated Half Dollar (Small Date variety) is a rare gem, with only 500 surviving across all grades. The Small Date variety is significantly scarcer, about two and a half times rarer than its Medium Date counterpart, or also known as reverse of 1842. The PCGS population stands at just 15 in this grade, with only 3 verified by CAC. This coin showcases sharp strike but most importantly the surfaces display beautiful soft champagne toning in the centers, transitioning to rich amber and iridescent blue around the edges. One of the nicest we have seen. The only comparable auction record is for a AU50 PCGS GOLD CAC that sold for $2,220 09/22 HA which had a similar color and toning, but in our opinion this is nicer.
