Attractively toned, this 1841-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar, Type 2 No Motto, offers an attractive and fully original mid-grade example from the early New Orleans Mint. As a semi-scarce date struck during just the fourth year of branch mint half dollar production, the 1841-O carries notable historical relevance for collectors of Southern coinage given only 700 are estimated today in all grades. The obverse displays smooth, evenly worn surfaces over a soft silver-gray canvas, accented by subtle golden-tan and light olive hues around the stars and denticles, with faint lavender-blue toning deepening near the upper left rim. Liberty’s figure remains clearly defined, with visible drapery folds and partial frost lingering in protected areas. The reverse offers enhanced visual appeal, with the eagle sharply outlined against deeper album-style toning—concentric shades of steel-blue, violet, and tobacco-bronze frame. Though no sales have been recorded for F15, the PCGS Price Guide reflects a value of $235 with next grade VF20 at $300 and VF25 apr $384 01/23 HA. Safe to say finding a CAC under $500 for this important date today would be impossible.
