The 1841 O New Orleans Liberty Head Gold Eagle No Motto ranks as the second rarest in terms of overall rarity and stands as the single rarest in GEM grades, surpassing even the 1859 O. Being the inaugural year of the Eagle at the New Orleans mint only adds to its appeal. This coin is exceedingly scarce across all grades and boasts the lowest mintage of its type from 1839 to 1859. From a mintage of just 2,500 only 57 are estimated to survive with that number inflated by resubmissions!

This splendid specimen of Southern crusty gold boasts a delightful caramel-gold hue. While moderate wear is evident on the devices, this coin maintains impressive visual appeal. The details remain crisp, and it sits handsomely within the PCGS OGH holder. Unlike many of its counterparts, which often bear heavy bag marks and semi-proof-like surfaces, this coin displays neither. The natural patina that has gradually formed over time further accentuates the allure of this piece. The date, small and centrally positioned, along with the oval and tall mintmark, contribute to its distinct character. This coin looks nicer than a VF25 today. No comparable PCGS in VF25 in the last ten years, the most recent PCGS XF45 sold for $26,400 08/22 ST.
