1840-O 25C Large O FS-301 Drapery AG03 PCGS CAC

As per PCGSCOINFACTS "In a survey of the members of the Liberty Seated Collectors Club, published in the March 2008 issue of the Gobrecht Journal, the 1840-O With Drapery Large O Quarter was ranked seventh among the Ten Greatest New Orleans Seated Coins: "This transitional variety was created when a new With Drapery obverse was used with an old reverse with re-engraved denticles. This interesting variety is very rare with no more than 25 specimens known. Most of the available coins are well worn but a few high grade pieces do exist..." Today 13 years later, PCGS shows 11 grading events including submissions. Whether under 11 or as high as 25 individual pieces, this 1840-O 25C Drapery Large O variety is one of the key and is of ultra rarity. The offered example is the single lowest graded example AG03 and is CAC approved for quality. The surface is flawless, void of any problem and the coin has honest even wear both through the obverse and reverse. The only relevant comp near this AG03 is a F15 sale back in 2009 for $3,738. All variety liberty seated quarter aficionados and red book collectors will appreciate this rare piece.
