Liberty Seated Half Dimes 1840 were struck in two - with Drapery or No Drapery. Mintage figures are 1,034,000 for the 1840 date and only a mere thousand survivors with a 0.09% survival rate are available. While these can be obtained, this coin contains a unique and appealing bisecting die crack on the obverse, which can be seen on the 18 in the date. The crack extends from the upper border through Liberty's head, torso, the shield border, rock, and 8 in the date to the lower border, while a branch crack passes through the drapery, pole, and arm into the right field toward star 11. A Flynn-RPD-001 variety. Stunning eye appeal showcasing lucid borderline toning. An array of sapphire and arctice blue, olive green, cream beige, sunset orange, with traces of violet and red wine colors adorn the obverse. A lovely toner to be in possession of, that will captivate the eye of any onlooker. No relevant comp exists though a non-toned CAC sold for $336 08/23 HA, whilst another attractive au58+ PCGS CAC for $720 01/20 HA.
