1839-O H10C MS64 PCGS CAC

Popular Type 2 No Drapery Liberty Seated Half Dime, 1839-O H10C from an original mintage of 1,034,039, only 300 survivors are known today - a 0.029% survivor percentage! Despite a mintage of over million, this is very rare in Mint State with only 25 known. At MS64, this has a PCGS Population of 8 with only 6 finer, whilst CAC a Pop 5 with only 3 CAC Finer. No doubt some duplicates exist. This present example surprisingly did not grade GEM as we thought it would, as we see absolutely see no hits or marks on the obverse. For some reason were especially tough on this. With exquisite soft tan toning over lustrous base, the reverse has interesting die-crack and clash-mark. PCGS Price Guide $5,500 with the last comp at $5,520 08/20 ST. A very eye appealing, lightly toned and highlight lustrous coin that would serve as a great type coin for this short 3 year series.
