1839-D $5 VG10 PCGS
Key one year issue for this obverse facing Dahlonega mint half eagle. 1839-D $5 has been sought after in all grades. Having just sold a VG08 the previous month, the current example graded VG10 has a PCGS POP 4 and is one of the lowest graded examples, out beat by 1- G04 and 1- G06 and 2- VG08. There are no relevant comps but VG10 has a PCGS Price Guide of $4,000. This example has an attractive yellow-gold patina and details of the eagle breast is well struck for the issue. 150 estimated known in all grades. Very rare.
