1839/8 $10 TYPE OF 1838 F15 PCGS CAC

Important Type 1 Covered Ear - 1839/8 $10 Type of 1838 Liberty Head eagle is a fascinating and highly sought-after 2 year Issue of which only two issues exist - 1) 1838 $10 and 1839/8 $10 Type Of 1838. Struck from a mintage of just 25,801 pieces, it is estimated that only about 225 examples survive today, with the vast majority showing heavy circulation. This makes the issue scarce in any grade and intensely contested whenever it appears at auction for Type purpose. CAC-approved examples are even more elusive, and at the Fine 15 level, only this is recorded with 20 CAC coins in total. No CAC example has sold in recent years except a XF45 PCGS CAC that sold for $11,400 03/25 HA which we purchased after the auction and sold for over $15,000 to a Type collector. These are incredibly difficult to find and come by CAC.
