This 1839 Liberty Seated Half Dollar, certified PCGS MS63+ hails with the coveted Gold CAC approval. An exceptional representative of both the first-year issue and the elusive No Drapery subtype, the 1839 No Drapery is not only a one-year subtype, but also marks the introduction of the denomination into the Seated Liberty design family—making this issue both historically pivotal and visually elite within 19th-century numismatics, and is the Key Date to the series. This example features original, clean surfaces with vibrant, natural toning in shades of silver-gray, gold, blue, and copper. It shows strong luster and detailed toning around Liberty’s portrait and the stars. The reverse side displays rich blue tones and deep coloration beneath the eagle, highlighting its originality and visual depth. A prize for the advanced collector. Several No Drapery CAC have sold that make up the price - A dark and relatively unattractive MS64 PCGS CAC for $66,000 04/25 HA and a nicer MS64 NGC CAC for $75,000 11/19 ST, NGC MS65 today non-CAC should be worth about $100,000 today and MS65 PCGS NON-CAC are offered today on the market for $160,000-$175,000. There are no CAC examples finer than the base MS64, and this example is clearly in the census for one of the finest. A MS64+ PCGS CAC today should sell for close to a $100,000.
