1837 10C SEATED LARGE DATE XF40 PCGS CAC

Two major choices are available within the Liberty Seated Dime series for 1837 - Large Date or Small Date. The former is known to be much rarer than the latter. They are known to be extremely popular in the market. This first year minted piece has the look of an AU50 and certainly claims to a higher grade if not for some light old wipe in the field and weak strike. Appearance wise, it definitely appears better than of a AU50 with some beautiful sunset red with copper and redwood brown including gold hues and sufficient luster. Even more interesting, this unique example shows extensive die-clash and die-crack on the obverse which we have not seen on any other example. With a survival estimate of only 1,750 out of 682,500 mintages, this piece is surely a rare piece with attractive eye appeal that is bound to be in a Type Set.
