Capped Bust Quarter
This 1835 Capped Bust Quarter is a superior representative of the type, exhibiting outstanding originality, vibrant multicolored toning, and well-preserved surfaces that place it among the more visually compelling circulated examples known. Liberty’s portrait is sharply outlined with only light, even wear across the high points, while bright satiny luster remains in protected areas, accentuating the smooth, undisturbed fields. The obverse features a steely silver-gray base enlivened by layers of lavender, icy blue, aquamarine, and violet, framed by fiery magenta, rose-gold, amber, and lime-green iridescence—textbook album toning from long-term cabinet storage. The reverse is equally attractive, with a soft dove-gray center that transitions into golden-brown, honey, tangerine, and teal hues around the periphery. The toning is concentric and stable, underscoring the coin’s natural aging and careful preservation. With surfaces free of any signs of cleaning and bolstered by CAC approval, this early quarter offers a premium combination of technical quality and antique eye appeal. An interesting strike through is noted on star 8. Last CAC sale for $720 04/25 HA. This represents an exceptional opportunity for collectors seeking originality and character in early U.S. silver.
