This inaugural Classic Head Half Eagle has long been undervalued. Thanks to new publication on HM variety for the type, a resurgence was in place. One area which has also shot up in demand is toned gold. Toned gold specimens are among our favorites to handle and this current specimen has excellent dark gold hues that is easily detected throughout the coin. Perhaps stored in a leather pouch, this example if you need anymore reason to acquire is also a HM-1 ( R.3) constituting about 10% of the date.
