1834 $5 Classic Crosslet 4 AU53 PCGS
Classic Head Half Eagle
One of the key dates to the Classic Head $5. Crosslet 4 variety refers to the number 4 tail as compared to a plain tail 4. This HM-9 R.4 example aside from being of the crosslet variety which is approximately 15 times more rare than its counterpart, these "only" trade at roughly 5-8 times in AU compared to its plain 4. There are an approximate 125 known of this variety in all grades compared to 1,750 plain 4. The offered example is not your typical PCGS AU53 example with a Price Guide of $9,000. This example is very attractive with its pale-pink and chestnut gold toning covering the obverse and reverse delicately. A visually attractive coin with only a few abrasions that holds this coin from a finer grade. An incredibly tough coin that is typically seen cleaned and dipped. This coin will not disappoint. Ex HA 02/2008 - $7,015
