An outstanding representative of early U.S. gold, this 1834 $2.50 Classic Head Quarter Eagle is certified PCGS AU55 with CAC approval and attributed as the increasingly sought-after HM-2 (R.3) die marriage. A superb type coin, this piece displays radiant golden-yellow luster, accented by deeper olive-gold and reddish undertones, particularly within the protected design elements. Obverse fields are frosty and hair curls are boldly defined, while the reverse showcases crisply rendered eagle feathers with subtle coppery-gold hues near the rims. Vibrant luster enhances the coin's originality and quality. CAC-approved specimens in this condition are especially elusive. Recent market performance confirms growing demand: a CAC XF45 brought $2,040 03/25 HA also a HM-2, while a CAC AU55 realized $3,120 08/22 ST, 3 years ago forever in this market for Classic Heads. Non-CAC PCGS AU55 more recently sold for $2,760 01/25 HA. With a look of an AU58, first year type and absolutely stunning piece, we couldn't recommend this example more.
