This 1830 Capped Bust Dime is an outstanding example of the medium-sized date variety, with a low mintage of 510,000. Survival estimates suggest only 200 examples remain, making this piece particularly scarce. With a PCGS population of 34 coins at this grade and 44 finer, and a CAC population of just 2 with 17 finer, this coin is highly desirable. Its surfaces exhibit strong silver luster with attractive sky blue and brown toning, enhanced by soft mint luster and subtle surface reflectivity along the borders. Sharply struck, particularly at the eagle’s talons, this dime exemplifies superior craftsmanship. Though there is no auction price record for this grade with CAC, its guides value it at $2,500 (PCGS) and $2,150 (CAC), whilst similarly dated 1830 10C SMALL MS63 PCGS CAC sold for $2,520 03/23 ST(untoned) and 1832 10C MS63 PCGS CAC $2,280 01/24 HA also untoned.
