Last Capped Bust Quarter Large Sized, 1828 is a popular and rare date. Like all other Capped Bust Quarter, a two-tier market exists as most have hairlines. As such finding a problem-free CAC example is actively sought after and this present example is that. Really a charming example, both sides are fully original in preservation with mottled overtones of steel-blue to a base of warm pewter-gray patina. Attractive platinum-grey over cobalt and sea-green iridescence splashes into the lower regions of the obverse and similarly float toward the top of the reverse. Glints of luster persist in the more protected areas of the design, further enhancing the appeal of this AU type candidate from the challenging Large Diameter Capped Bust quarter series of 1815 to 1828. No PCGS AU50 CAC has sold though XF45 PCGS CAC have sold for $2,100-$2,200 whilst NGC AU50 CAC for approximately $2,000. Even in higher grades at AU53 or AU55 CAC none have sold. This should perform and bring more than the above mentioned examples.
