The 1828 13 Stars Classic Head half cent is one of the most desirable and distinctive varieties within the short-lived Classic Head series, featuring the original arrangement of thirteen stars before the modified 12 Stars design was introduced later that year. Struck to a mintage of 606,000 pieces, it is estimated that only approximately 300 Mint State examples survive today, making high-grade representatives increasingly difficult to acquire. This handsome MS63 Red-Brown specimen displays an attractive blend of warm chocolate-brown patina interwoven with vibrant golden-orange and faded mint-red highlights that remain visible across both sides. The obverse is sharply impressed, with Liberty's portrait exhibiting bold hair curls, a crisp LIBERTY inscription on the headband, and well-defined stars surrounding the portrait, while the smooth fields retain pleasing satiny luster and original surfaces.
