1825/4/2 25C AG03 CACG
CACG
This 1825/4/2 Capped Bust Quarter, certified AG03 by CACG is a numismatically significant example of one of the most intriguing overdates in the early U.S. quarter series. All 1825-dated quarters are now attributed to the 1825/4/2 variety, which exhibits remnants of both a 4 and a 2 beneath the final digit—an unmistakable and complex tripled punch that underscores the crude but fascinating minting techniques of the early 19th century. With a survival estimate of just 237 pieces in all grades, and only two coins graded AG03 at CACG and none at CAC Verification, this offering is desirable. Notably, no CAC-approved or graded example has sold in AG03; however, a PCGS AG03 NON-CAC just sold at auction for $312 06/25 SB.,whilst a G04 non-CAC for $384 06/25 SB. Safe to say this coin beats both those coins and some. The coin’s surfaces are entirely original, showing consistent medium gray toning across both sides. A scarce, problem-free entry into the Capped Bust quarter series, this example will appeal to specialists in early federal coinage, lowball certified collections, and advanced overdate variety sets alike.
