Capped Bust Half Eagle
Many gold coins minted before 1834 were melted or either shipped overseas. During the 1820, there were no gold coins in circulation as they costed more to produce and as such only a few have managed to survive. This Capped Head Left half eagle originates from a mintage of 14,485 but only 82 pieces are estimated to have survived in all grades today. The current specimen displays radiant luster throughout the devices. There are no notable abrasions or marks to be found delivering an overall fresh and frosty appearance. A standout coin and the highlight of Paradime's FUN NEWPs offering, a unique 1823 $5 AU50 Old Fatty Holder NGC with GOLD CAC approval. No PCGS example is graded and very few in CAC are certified ( 11 finer for Green), but in GOLD CAC this is a POP 1/0. The only existing comp for this piece was this exact piece when it last sold in 2009 before being endorsed with a GOLD CAC sticker. A spectacular one of a kind GEM AU that is a must have for any serious collector. It is sure to be a prized possession and a great piece to add to a well-curated collection, that would fit perfectly in a box of 20 and perhaps the best representation for the Type.
