1822 25C VF20 OH ANACS

1822 Capped Bust Quarter, graded VF20 by ANACS and housed in an old soap box holder, is a remarkable piece from a mintage of just 64,080. Despite being often mistaken as a common date, the 1822 is actually rarer than the large diameter quarters of the preceding years, with survival estimates at just 800 pieces in all grades. This example showcases outstanding eye appeal with light gray high points, enriched by lovely iridescent toning. The envelope-type toning presents a gradient from wheat brown near the central devices to a rich tan brown, and finally to a striking sapphire at the rims. No marks are seen on this coin, and is truly overall a wholesome example for this B.1 (R.2) example.
